WHAT THE CUSTOMER NEEDED?
Tagonce is a Danish designed and produced intelligent baggage tag associated with an app where travel information about the owner of the baggage can be stored. By means of a QR code, the data that has been stored by the owner of the baggage tagged with the intelligent baggage tag can be read.
The primary demand by Tagonce was for a solution that would guarantee a beautiful finish combined with a long life, entailing that the QR code can be read even after many years’ use. The secondary, firm demand was that the baggage tag could be customized for different customers without an increase in price.
WHICH SOLUTION WAS CHOSEN?
Mekoprint’s major contribution to the product was the advice offered before the choice was made as to the optimum production method. The baggage tag is made in acrylic with digital printing on both sides. The individual QR codes are unique and printed onto the tag in our modern digital printer which automatically prints continuous QR codes. To protect the QR code against wear, a round hole was milled in the acrylic plate, and the QR code printed on the back of a matching round piece of acrylic plate which was then inserted into the hole – and hereby protected completely. The result is a long-lasting and beautiful baggage tag. The acrylic plates were printed in our flatbed digital printer where several plates can be printed in one process.
WHAT WERE THE BENEFITS?
"We have had a good dialogue with Mekoprint about the technical solution which would in the best way possible support the high quality that we want to be known for in the market. Tagonce is a product which can be customized for each individual customer. Digital printing is therefore the right solution for us as it enables us to offer a unique version of the baggage tag ith own logo to minor customers. At the same time, we are able to upscale production if a major company or airline wishes to buy our baggage tag. Our success depends on a QR code that can be read – in a small format – and for many years into the future. This we have obtained with the solution recommended by Mekoprint”.
