At the same time, the collaboration will meet an increasing demand for both development and production to be anchored closer to customers in Europe. For many defence companies, resilient European supply chains have become an important competitive parameter because security, security of supply and capacity have become more strategically important:
- When the defence industry needs to scale, it is no longer enough to have a good idea or a single strong technology. This requires a setup where development, documentation and production are closely linked, and where there is capacity to grow with the task. This is exactly the capacity we can now bring into play, Peer Mørk continues.
The collaboration has already produced concrete results
Mekoprint and idoc are already working on several joint development and production projects for the defence industry. Since the beginning of the year, the collaboration has led to several assignments with a total value of a larger double-digit million amount:
- We find that customers are very concerned with finding partners who can both take responsibility early in the development phase and at the same time have the strength to deliver when the solutions are to be put into production. This fits exactly with the direction in which we have developed Mekoprint over several years, where we increasingly help customers with total solutions rather than individual components. The collaboration with idoc opens up new opportunities in both Denmark, the rest of Europe and in the long term also more broadly internationally, says Anders Kold.
He adds that both companies have made a larger setup for the DALO fair, where capacity, security of supply and European value chains are expected to be among the central themes for the defence industry.
