Solar panels at Mekoprint’s factory in Aalborg, Denmark, contribute to CO₂ neutrality
As of October 1, 2025, all energy consumption is CO₂-neutralized within Scopes 1 and 2, as well as company transport within Scope 3.
With the CO₂ neutralization, Mekoprint takes a significant step in a more sustainable direction. The purpose is to reduce its own emissions and support customers’ ability to make more sustainable choices in collaboration with Mekoprint—from product design and material selection to production processes. Always with a focus on combining increased competitiveness and sustainability.
Actions and initiatives to reduce and neutralize CO₂ emissions
-
Primarily replacement of ventilation systems and reduction of standby consumption
-
Conversion from natural gas to primary heating with heat pumps
-
Own solar panels and purchase of wind power
-
Investment in three tree-planting projects with a total of 30,250 trees, of which 24,000 in Denmark and 6,250 fast-growing balsa trees in Venezuela. This also contributes to promoting biodiversity.
-
Purchase of recognized certificates for residual consumption

Next step in the green transition
Mekoprint has reached its goal of neutralizing its own emissions within a few years. The next phase is to further optimize energy consumption (Scope 1 and 2) but primarily to focus on Scope 3, which covers all emissions outside the company’s own production facilities and encompasses the entire value chain. Here, the data foundation is complex, and progress requires close cooperation with customers and suppliers.
CO₂ product calculator strengthens insights
A central tool is a CO₂ product calculator, which Mekoprint is developing internally. It visualizes the CO₂ footprint for individual products and provides customers with a solid basis for decision-making. The calculation includes material consumption, transport, and the emissions resulting from production processes.
Circular design and closer partnerships
In its work to integrate ESG initiatives more broadly into the value chain, Mekoprint also encourages customers to think in terms of more circular product design, which requires that material combinations and recyclability are considered from the start. This requires a change in design processes, which Mekoprint has, among other things, worked on with the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) in an innovation workshop with a selected customer.
