VIKING is a market leader in maritime security, providing and servicing necessary and statutory safety equipment for vessels, offshore installations, the defense sector, industrial fire extinguishing and recreational craft.
Firemen work in tough environments for which reason it is extremely important that their equipment is resistant to external influences and in perfect condition.
VIKING came into contact with Mekoprint A/S when they came up with the idea of developing an intelligent firefighter’s suit with sensors that could warn the firefighter against high temperatures and dangerous gases being developed during a fire. It should be a flexible system and integrable with PCBA and resistant to washing in high temperatures.
Mekoprint found that the best solution for Viking was silicone sensors with integrated LED light were made of a co-molded UL-94V0 in black and semi-transparent and a fixed-hanging sealant that remains waterproof.
Silicone is a material that can withstand short-term exposure to temperatures up to 350°C and long-term exposure up to 250 ° C, while being self-extinguishing and thus protecting the PCBA from heat.
This product, which was developed in collaboration with Mekoprint and Viking, helps to ensure the safety of firefighters as well as increase their efficiency in a given situation.
The customer says
VIKING had an optimal collaboration with Mekoprint’s technical staff in the design of the design, which offers this unique combination of high heat measurement for the temperature sensors and low heat measurement for other areas to protect the PCBA from the high heat.
The final assembly of the product was possible due to Mekoprint’s know-how in the field of.
